Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) 2026

Protecting Your Practice, Strengthening Our Profession

As clinical psychologists, we dedicate ourselves to supporting others — and it’s equally important that our own professional practice is protected. Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) offers peace of mind, safeguarding practitioners against claims or legal challenges that may arise in the course of psychological work.

The Hong Kong Clinical Psychologists Association (HKCPA) is proud to continue offering a comprehensive PII policy tailored specifically to the needs and realities of clinical psychologists in Hong Kong. With this protection in place, you can focus on your clients and professional growth knowing you are supported.

Key Features for 2026

Affordable Protection: HK$1,700 per year (including HK$200 administration fee)
Extensive Coverage: Up to HK$30M per claim, capped at HK$90M per policy year
Flexible Start Date: Apply anytime — fees are prorated depending on enrolment date

Designed for Clinical Practice

This policy is purpose-built to reflect the unique risks and responsibilities of psychological practice in Hong Kong.
In addition to standard indemnity protection, the 2026 policy includes a defence-cost extension relevant to Hong Kong’s upcoming Mandatory Reporting Requirement (MRR).

Mandatory Reporting Requirement Defence Cost Extension

This extension:

Coverage Element

Details

Type of Coverage

Defence costs only

Sub-limit

HK$100,000

Excess (payable by practitioner)

HK$100,000 before coverage applies

Defence-cost coverage under this extension will cease if:

  • An admission of wrongdoing is made, or
  • A final legal ruling confirms misconduct

If either occurs, any defence costs previously advanced may be repayable to the insurer.

Why Enrol Through HKCPA?

  • Professionally Relevant Coverage: Purpose-built for psychological practice rather than generic business insurance
